I was revising lower primary science with the young one yesterday, and I couldn’t help but be amazed at how even basic, simple science facts reveal and shed light on the truth contained in the Bible. It is like what Paul said in Romans 1:20, “20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead”.
So we were on the topic of light energy, and there was this section about “Light and Shadows”. It reads, “… A shadow is, therefore, an area of darkness that is formed when an object blocks the path of light. Three necessary conditions for a shadow to be formed include:
- The presence of a light source
- The presence of an object to block the light
- The presence of a surface or screen that light can fall on.”
I was immediately reminded of Jesus speaking of Himself as the light of the world. And because He has come as a light into the world, His very presence as a light source shows up the darkness and shadow of death that the people of the world sit in. And this darkness is projected right into the heart and soul that is inside of men (Matthew 6:23, “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”)
There is darkness because there is an object that obstructs or blocks the light. In the case of Paul, it was described as “something like scales” that “fell from his eyes”. And after that falling off of the scales, Paul became physically blind for some time, even as he began to start seeing light spiritually during that same time. Paul’s experience was symbolic of how the vast majority of people’s minds have been blinded by the god of this age, “lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them”.
To be removed from the shadow and darkness, the obstructing object must be removed. Lies that bind and blind the mind’s eyes have to be removed, so that the light of God can shine through, and when that happens, the person is transported from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, in an instance.

Acts 26:15-18,
“I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light,
and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins
and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me”.
